Customer Rules for Casting Spells with Armor

The following rules will be used to predict the effect that armor has on the ability to successfully cast magic spells. These percentages only apply to spells with somatic components (i.e. gestures) and are cumulative.

No armor 0%
Padded armor 10%
Leather armor 15%
Studded Leather 20%
Chain Mail 25%
Banded Mail 35%
Field Plate 65%
Full Plate 85%
Shield^ 10%
Magical armor bonus -5%/bonus
Elven chain 10%

^ Shield may be discarded at +4 penalty to initiative. Shield may be picked up and used next round with +4 initiative penalty if Dex. check is made, or will require entire round if Dex. check fails.
